Here’s part 2 of the replacement of the 4011 chip. I bought a cheap (and very nasty) 29p 14-pin IC socket from Maplins, plus a CD4011Bp (not the correct UBP) for 49p.
Follow the pictures above and you’ll see how easy this is..
- Install new socket (a bit of soldering)
- Insert chip
- Re-assemble (see part 1)
Unfortunately, this didn’t make the slightest difference (other than the programming seems to be half-a-beat out due to the use of the buffered chip..)
So, there’s something else amiss.
Could that be to do with the “missing component” – see the last photo, above?
Looks like here should be something installed here, but there isn’t.
All I get is the hats, which work on both settings. No drums. Does this mean that:
a: It’s not registering programming or
b: It’s just not playing sounds
Any suggestions gratefully received – just post a reply below..
